Makes my heart smile

There was a very tragic thing that happened this weekend to a kid Sky goes to school with; the mom was in a car accident and passed away. Sky came home tonight and was talking about it...(I had read the story but didn't put the names together)....and Sky looks at me and says "Man, I just don't know what I would do without you." Kind of a morbid thought but I got out of the car with tears in my eyes. To hear your teenager recognize how huge a part of their life you are is just amazing!!!

Halloween Pics

Here are the pictures of the boys in their costumes! I made them both and am proud of how they came out considering my limited abilities with a sewing machine! Logan is an assassin from a game I can't remember the name of and Gavin is a zombie named Tank, again from a game I can't remember the name of. Unfortunately I should have gone with a flesh colored shirt because everyone thought Gav was a marshmallow. (really, what marshmallow has blood on it? just saying) They were both very warm and if I ever do costumes again, I will start earlier and make sure they look more the way they are supposed to! Enjoy!

Love their 'badass' looks! I didn't even suggest it :)

Halloween and more....

So excited....I just realized I'm up to 2 followers!!!!!! I'm super excited for tonight and the fact that I'll be able to take a nap today! I was up late last night helping my mom figure out FB....then had Bountiful Baskets at 8:15am this morning....ugh! BUT got lots of super yummy stuff....I'll have to take a picture next time of everything and post it! I have a bag ready to give to my sister....I love being able to share the yummy veggies and fruit!

Tonight will be the first time I've gone trick or treating with the boys in years! It's not been a holiday I've gotten into much recently....but this year is different...I've decorated AND made the boys' costumes...so far they are coming out just as I had them pictured in my head. I will be sure to post pictures soon of what they looked like. Considering I have a sewing machine I like to pretend I know how to use, I am highly impressed with myself for making their costumes. Last night I had 2 yards of material that actually looks like a shirt now! I wonder what I could do if I actually had a pattern....so many things I want to do....no follow through! LOL at least I followed through enough this year to complete costumes! AND they will be warmer than the costumes at Wally World!

Since I don't have any pictures of the boys yet, here are a few that we took this week:

The 2nd and 5th grades won a "Crazy Hair" day for bringing in the most box tops. The funny thing is we had 44 box tops and I split them up between the boys...so each of them brought in 22......It was kinda cool that they both won!

Emma had a Halloween parade at school this week.....isn't she just the cutest ladybug EVER!
( She was super excited to see us in the front row )

Skylar gets two pictures!!! More to follow of this season! Sandridge made it to the playoffs for the first time since like 1994....yeah back when I was still fresh out of Sandridge!! He's #22 and did a fabulous job this year! It was so incredible to get to watch him play! The realization that the next time I watch him play in a school football game will be when he's in highschool is very, very weird!  Good job, buddy.....Super proud of you!

As I am all my boys.....I really do have the most amazing kids!

Skylar Making Crepes for Extra Credit

SO Skylar is making crepes!! And not doing a bad job of it!!! Smells delicious in my kitchen!!!

Gavin's Firehouse Field Trip

The 2nd grade got to visit a Weber County fire station yesterday. The firefighters were Doug, AJ, and Doug. They gave a great presentation! We walked the kids to the firehouse and that means walking along 4000 South, which is a 50mph road. Thanks to the Weber County Sheriffs for sending someone out to slow down traffic and get us there safely! It was a really fun experience.

Copyright Waiver

I sent a bunch of pictures to Walmart online to see what they looked like developed. I love how they look on the computer but was curious how they would look developed. On the envelope of the pictures it said "copyright?" The manager said that when they were developed, it was determined that some of the pictures were professional and required a signature from me for a copyright waiver! It totally made my day! That someone thought my pictures were professionally taken gave me a little confidence boost! These are some of the pictures that I had developed.....

Thank you, Michelle, for letting me take pictures of your beautiful daughters!

History in the making....

I'm sitting here watching video on CNN that is being streamed live from 2000 ft below the surface of the earth in Chile! How amazing is 1- the technology that I can see this sight while it's happening and 2- that we have come so far that we've managed to get to a point where "we" as human beings are able to rescue men that are trapped so far under the earth for so long! AND what an amazing display of the human spirit and it's ability to survive! This is the 2nd time in the last 10 years that I've witnessed something that gave me the thought "this will be in the history books"....September 11th and the 33 miners trapped for 68 days. I really didn't have that thought when Katrina happened but know now that it is also something that will be in history books that I was alive for. It's a weird, interesting, surreal feeling!

Amen that these miners are coming home to their families. I pray that they all will make a smooth transition and that much good comes from their experiences!

Oops

So, I just read my first post and realized that I failed at documenting our lives on a regular basis. Since I started this blog, the day I got laid off, things have been interesting. I have actually been unemployed now for 7 months, made it all the way through the summer being a mom looking for a job...but being a mom none the less. Skylar is in 9th grade now and playing football regularly for SandRidge Junior High....and since I am still not working, I've been fortunate enough to see every single game, every single interception and most recently, his first junior high touchdown! Logan and Gavin are in 5th and 2nd grades respectively and are doing very well at Quest Academy again! I've been able to have an active role in their classrooms and homework schedules. So much easier than trying to feed them, bath them and cram in homework in the two hours I used to see them after work. Although I know that eventually something will come along and I will be a working single mom again, I am very aware of the gift to cherish each day that I have to be "just a mom"! (Actually being "just a mom" is much more exhausting sometimes lol) It is once again time for bedtime stories and kisses....hopefully this time I can keep up my blog as I intended 7 months ago!

Goodnight all!

October photo shoot with the kids

Here are some of the pictures I got from Saturdays photo shoot. Hoping to get a family photo shoot done in two weeks!

1st Indoor games are tomorrow

So Skylar and Logan are playing indoor football this year and the games start tomorrow! Super excited to see how they both do! It's been impressive to see how Monte's has guided these boys to be their best! I'm so hoping that the games go well and that their confidence is boosted! Good luck my sons! Super proud of you guys!

Skylar (in the red hoodie) helping out Logan's team...Logan in the black getting ready to get someone!

What a Week!

I swear I've been so incredibly busy since being laid off it's not even funny! Finally got my car back yesterday and as much as I'm super happy it's all fixed, it irritates me that I've had to put so much money into it. I really want to get a truck but now have to wait until I get a job. Driving my dad's truck for the last week made me realize a couple things....1) I need a truck that gets
better gas mileage...2) I need one with running boards so I can get in...and 3) I need 4 doors!

My brother enlisted into the Army National Guard yesterday and that was super exciting. Have a "silent movie" of it since my camera's microphone was defaulted to be "off"...lame! Am so happy I got to be there and witness it thought. Happy times ahead for him!

Been a quiet Friday and I like that! Thank goodness for the weekend!

Gavin's cake

So....another advantage to being laid off; you get time to make a cake for your kiddo....Thank you Family Fun magazine for the idea and directions! Hopefully it tastest good too!

Happy Birthday Gavin

Gavin, Happy 7th Birthday! I can't believe how quickly the time goes by. You are my kiddo that stays truest to your age! You are doing great in 1st grade and I am so proud of you! It just seems like yesterday that we brought you home, the smallest of the three boys, but you have so much heart that makes up for it and you are quickly gaining on your brothers!

I love you, too much! Hope you have a great day!

Love, Mommy

Not the worst thing....

So...got laid off today! Since I've been expecting it for a couple weeks, I wasn't shocked and or sad. I've been so stressed lately that it actually comes as a relief! Positives to being laid off:
1- Got to go shopping with my sister!
2- Get to be a mom full time until I find another job.
3- Get unemployment that will help until new job is found.
4- Don't have to juggle work and football at the moment!
5- Get to see my kids right after school!
6- Get to go to the gym more!

I know there is something better waiting for me out there. I just have to find it! Meanwhile, I get to enjoy each day with extra hours and be with my kids!

To my boys~

My handsome boys.....Gavin, Skylar, and Logan!
You are amazing young men and I look forward everyday to see what wonderful things you do, what new things you discover and what awesome things are to come. I love you all more than life itself and am so proud to be your mom!

The adventures of myself and my boys are ones that I tend to take for granted but that often bring comedy to a stress-filled life! I've been told that I need to document the stories that I tell of my boys and although I'm starting a little late, I figure "better late than never"! So here I go, starting a blog, to document our lives in hopes that one day they can read them and to help clear my head from the craziness of my life!
